Microsoft loosens Excel’s one-cell-one-value rule with lists, nested arrays and four new functions

Microsoft said Excel is getting three new capabilities — lists, in-cell arrays and nested arrays — along with four functions: FLATTEN, HAS, HASANY and HASALL. The change relaxes a rule that has shaped Excel for four decades: one cell holding one value. With the update, a single cell can contain multiple entries while still allowing each item to be filtered and calculated separately. Microsoft said users can create a list through Insert > List or by pressing Ctrl+J, then enter multiple values separated by commas or semicolons depending on regional settings. When referenced in a formula such as =B2, those values can spill into adjacent cells. The company also said arrays can now live natively inside a single cell, including nested arrays such as ={{1,2,3};{4,5,6}}, which previously could return truncated results or a #CALC! error. The features are still in preview. Microsoft advised users not to rely on them in important workbooks and listed six known limitations, including gaps in conditional formatting, data validation, charts, PivotTables, Power Query, and Find and Replace. The rollout is limited to Beta users on Windows version 2610 (build 20520.20000) or later and Mac version 16.114 (build 26092111) or later, with a gradual release schedule.

Alby flags critical flaw in older Hub versions that could expose funds

Alby said a critical vulnerability affects Alby Hub versions v1.7.0 through v1.18.5 if the management API is exposed to the public internet, creating a path for unauthorized access and possible fund transfers. The issue was highlighted in a post by Bitcoin News on X, which said Alby had confirmed the flaw. Alby added that one user is currently known to have been affected, while versions v1.19.0 and later are not impacted. The company advised affected users to restrict public access to the management interface, upgrade immediately to v1.24.0, and change their unlock password after updating. Alby also said the latest release fixes multiple issues reported by Bitcoin Team Red, Project Loupe, and other researchers.

Critical macOS screen sharing flaw allows passwordless remote login; Apple fixes it in version 26.6.1

A critical security flaw in macOS screen sharing could let a network attacker log into a Mac with any account without knowing the password, according to a disclosure by security researcher Calif tracked by Dongcha Beating. The bug, assigned CVE-2026-65400, affects systems with screen sharing enabled and was described as a form of unauthenticated remote code execution that can give an attacker full desktop control. Calif said the root cause and exploitation method were identified after reverse-engineering Apple’s macOS 26.6.1 patch, and proof-of-concept code has already been released. Apple has fixed the issue in macOS 26.6.1 and users are advised to update as soon as possible. While there is no evidence so far of broad exploitation in real-world environments, the public release of PoC code is raising the risk for unpatched machines. For users who cannot update right away, turning off screen sharing is cited as a temporary mitigation until the patch can be installed.

Critical BTCPay Server Flaw Exploited to Drain Merchant Lightning Nodes

Late on Friday evening, an attacker exploited a critical vulnerability in BTCPay Server to steal Lightning node credentials from merchants who run LND software, and then transferred the funds. Both Foundation, a hardware wallet manufacturer, and Citadel21, a bitcoin publication, have all confirmed that their nodes were drained in the attack. BTCPay, for its part, has not yet disclosed the exact amount of money lost in this incident. The vulnerability, according to reports, allowed unauthenticated remote access to LND's .macaroon credential files, which in turn gave attackers the ability to control the affected nodes. On-chain wallets, however, were not affected by the attack. Members of the Bitcoin Red Team had previously reported the problem to BTCPay. The official recommendation is for users to upgrade immediately to version 2.4.2 or to take their servers offline. An investigation is currently still underway.
